City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) held its 2026 Opening Convocation Ceremony on 2 September 2026, welcoming the university's third intake of more than 1,300 students. The ceremony takes place only months after CityUHK (Dongguan) celebrated its first cohort of master's graduates in June 2026, highlighting the institution's impressive development trajectory since its official launch in 2024.

City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) (CityUHK (DG)) rolled out the welcome mat for its 2026-entry students, with official freshman registration kicking off on 20 August.

City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) hosted the Inaugural Commencement 2026 at City University of Hong Kong on 22 June. Over 420 MSc graduates travelled from Dongguan's Songshan Lake to Hong Kong's Kowloon Tong to attend the commencement, marking them as the university's first intake and alumni of CityUHK's global community.

The shared research laboratories of City University of Hong Kong and City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) were officially unveiled at CityUHK (Dongguan) on 23 April 2026.

As a key collaborative platform, the laboratories aim to strengthen integration in teaching, research and innovation between the two institutions through seamless cross-border sharing of physical space and research resources.

The 2026 International Symposium on Computer Applications and Information Technology (ISCAIT 2026) drew to a close recently at City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan). Hosted by the university, the symposium convened leading scholars and researchers for in-depth and productive academic exchanges on frontier topics. The opening ceremony was hosted by the conference general chair, Dr Huang Zhi’an from City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan).

On 15 December, 2025, City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) and the University of Cambridge have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in advancing the global development of students and faculty.

On 10 September, City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) celebrated the commencement of its 2025 academic year with a grand Opening Convocation Ceremony, also marking a significant milestone with the official opening of the university library.

From 21 to 23 August, City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) warmly welcomed its 2025 intake of students, marking a dynamic start to the new academic year.

The Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology (GDST), City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), and City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan), hereinafter referred to as “(CityUHK (Dongguan)”, signed the Work Plan to Jointly Support the Deepening of Collaboration in Science & Technology (the Work Plan) on 14 August.
